Pulse Coaching ("we", "us", or "our") collects information you provide directly when you create an account, complete your health profile, log workouts, meals, and sleep data, interact with AI coaching features, or communicate with human coaches through our platform.

This includes:

  • Account information (name, email, profile photo)
  • Health and fitness data (workouts, meals, sleep logs, HERO assessment responses)
  • Communications with AI and human coaches
  • Device information and usage analytics
  • Payment information (processed securely via Stripe)
  • Apple HealthKit data (only with your explicit permission)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and personalize our coaching services
  • Calculate your HERO Score and track your wellness journey
  • Generate personalized AI coaching responses and plans
  • Connect you with human coaches and facilitate communications
  • Send notifications about your progress, reminders, and account updates
  • Process payments and manage subscriptions
  • Improve our services and develop new features
  • Detect and respond to crisis situations for your safety

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:

  • Your coach: If you engage a human coach, they can view your health profile, HERO scores, and progress data relevant to your coaching program
  • Service providers: Stripe (payments), Clerk (authentication), Anthropic (AI coaching), ElevenLabs (voice synthesis), Vercel (hosting)
  • Community features: Posts, comments, and leaderboard rankings are visible to other users per your privacy settings
  • Legal requirements: When required by law or to protect safety

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (TLS), secure authentication via Clerk, role-based access controls, and secure payment processing through Stripe. Health data is stored in encrypted databases with strict access controls.

5. HealthKit Data

If you grant permission, we read workout, sleep, heart rate, and activity data from Apple HealthKit. This data is used solely to enhance your coaching experience and is never sold or shared with third parties for advertising. You can revoke HealthKit access at any time through your device settings.

6. Your Privacy Controls

You can:

  • Set your profile visibility (public, friends only, or private)
  • Control notification preferences
  • Revoke HealthKit data access
  • Request export or deletion of your data by contacting support
  • Manage your subscription and payment methods through the billing portal

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law. Anonymized, aggregated data may be retained for analytics purposes.

8. Crisis Detection

Our AI coaching system includes crisis keyword detection to identify users who may be in distress. When triggered, we provide immediate access to crisis resources including the Veterans Crisis Line (988). Crisis incidents are logged to ensure appropriate follow-up support.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
